What is PDRN?

PDRN is a DNA fragment extracted from the reproductive cells of salmon. The DNA base composition of salmon is as high as 98% similar to that of human DNA. PDRN can supplement the bases required for DNA synthesis of new skin cells, thereby promoting rapid metabolism of skin cells. Because it has no immunogenicity, it is non-toxic and has no side effects when used in humans.

PDRN is a regenerative factor that greatly helps improve the regenerative ability of skin and tissues. It is excellent enough to improve the regenerative ability of skin, and is enough to be used in skin sedation treatment after micro-plastic surgery and laser surgery, making the skin elastic and keeping the skin healthy. If applied after surgery, it not only has a calming effect on the skin, but also has an excellent effect on the healing of facial wounds. Because it can promote cell growth like a baby, it is called a "baby needle"

The baby needle acts as a tissue regeneration activator by increasing cell regeneration and tissue composition. It balances oil and water by increasing blood circulation and metabolism of skin tissue, thereby reducing sebum secretion, and achieving skin problems such as anti-acne, reducing keratin, shrinking pores, and improving skin color. At the same time, it restores damaged skin by increasing overall elasticity and improves the root causes of skin problems, giving you baby-like skin.

What is the anti-aging effect of PDRN?

Improving skin texture

Collagen provides structural scaffolds for cells, tissues, and organs, and is a key player in determining the physiological functions of the skin. It also provides strength and stability to tissues by forming a support network along the cell structure. PDRN is able to improve collagen synthesis. Inhibition of MMP-1 can increase fibroblast collagen and elastin synthesis. MMPs play an important role in elastin degradation, and the increase in MMPs is associated with damage to ECM components. PDRN can inhibit the expression of MMP-1 and elastase, both of which play a key role in skin aging and wrinkle formation. Elastase is a protease responsible for breaking down elastic fibers, and overexpression of elastase can lead to loss of skin elasticity. Inhibiting elastase can slow down the process of loss of elasticity in aging skin. MMP-1 is also involved in the breakdown of ECM, so inhibiting MMP-1 through PDRN can also be beneficial to the maintenance of skin elasticity.

DNA synthesis

One of the key factors leading to skin aging is the accumulation of DNA damage, and therefore, DNA synthesis is essential for maintaining skin homeostasis. UV rays play an important role in DNA damage, and UV-induced DNA damage initiates the release of MMP-1. As mentioned above, PDRN can inhibit MMP-1. In addition, PDRN has the advantage of promoting angiogenesis and tissue regeneration. Blood vessels are highways for delivering oxygen and nutrients to cells, but VEGF is required for the growth of blood vessels. Polynucleotides promote angiogenesis by activating adenosine A2A receptors to stimulate VEGF production. Damaged and/or hypoxic tissues are generally unable to undergo de novo DNA synthesis. Nucleotides derived from PDRN provide purine and pyrimidine rings to the "salvage pathway". The salvage pathway helps to recover bases and nucleosides generated by DNA and RNA degradation, converting them into nucleotides and ultimately reintegrating them into DNA. PDRN promotes DNA formation by producing nucleotides and nucleosides, reactivating normal cell proliferation and growth patterns, and accelerating tissue regeneration and wound healing.

Pigmentation Treatment

Melanin is key to determining a person's skin color, and its overproduction and accumulation after UV exposure or chronic inflammation can lead to various pigmentation skin diseases such as melasma, mottled pigmentation, freckles, age spots, and post-inflammatory pigmentation. PDRN inhibits melanogenesis by suppressing melanogenic gene expression and tyrosinase enzyme activity, suggesting that PDRN is a hypopigmenting agent that plays an important role in skin whitening. PDRN inhibits MITF and its target genes during melanogenesis. In addition, PDRN directly inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, the rate-limiting enzyme for melanogenesis. The exact mechanism by which PDRN regulates tyrosinase inhibition is not fully understood and requires further study. Although the whitening effect of PDRN has been established, further research is needed in this area.
