What Is the Difference Between Gel-Type Hyaluronic Acid and Particle-Type Hyaluronic Acid?

Jun. 19, 2024

Hyaluronic acid is a commonly used medical cosmetic material. It is highly safe and reliable, so it is widely used in plastic surgery and anti-aging. In plastic surgery, hyaluronic acid is used to fill facial wrinkles, enhance lips, and expand the area around the eyeballs. It can effectively improve facial contours and skin quality, making people more beautiful and confident. In anti-aging, hyaluronic acid can replenish the moisture and nutrients lacking in the skin, promote skin metabolism, improve fine lines, sagging and dullness, and make the skin younger and healthier.

However, there are two types of hyaluronic acid, which including gel-type hyaluronic acid and particle-type hyaluronic acid. The main differences between gel-type hyaluronic acid and particle-type hyaluronic acid lie in their form, characteristics and applicable parts.

Gel-type hyaluronic acid

Gel-type hyaluronic acid is also called mono-phasic hyaluronic acid, which is a product containing only cross-linked hyaluronic acid. The texture of hyaluronic acid is smooth and uniform. Through the grinding method, the hyaluronic acid gel block is ground into a smooth and homogeneous gel state without adding other substances to form mono-phasic hyaluronic acid. This type of hyaluronic acid is like jelly, a gel-like substance that is not easy to decompose. It has a good shaping effect, strong cohesion and support, and is not easy to deform and shift. It is suitable for areas that require support, such as nose, chin and facial contour lifting and deep filling. The cross-linking degree of gel-type hyaluronic acid is higher (6% to 13%) and the maintenance time is longer, about 12-18 months.

Singderm® mono-phasic hyaluronic acid dermal filler is a sterile, biodegradable, nonpyrogenic, viscoelastic, clear, colorless, homogenized gel implant. It consists of modified hyaluronic acid (HA) produced by bacteria, formulated to a concentration of 24 mg/ml and 0.3% lidocaine in a physiologic buffer. With CE and ISO certification, Singderm’s quality is guaranteed.

Particle-type hyaluronic acid is also known as bi-phasic hyaluronic acid. It is composed of cross-linked particles mixed with non-cross-linked liquid. It has both solid and liquid properties, a granular feel, and good elasticity. It is suitable for filling shallow wrinkles and delicate parts of the face. Particle-type hyaluronic acid is divided into different particle sizes according to the size of the sieve holes. According to the different molecular sizes, large-molecule and small-molecule hyaluronic acid can be distinguished. Large-molecule hyaluronic acid is suitable for filling the face, nose bridge, forehead, apple muscles and other parts. Small-molecule hyaluronic acid is suitable for moderate wrinkles, frown lines, lip augmentation, etc.

The cross-linking degree of granular hyaluronic acid is low (1% to 5%) and the maintenance time is short, about 6-12 months.

Singfiller® bi-phasic hyaluronic acid dermal filler is a sterile, transparent gel of stabilized hyaluronic acid of origin. With fine, derm, deep, deeper and sub-q five formats and different particle size, suitable for different areas to injection. With CE and ISO certification, Singfiller's quality is guaranteed.

In shorts, different kinds of hyaluronic acid has its advantages, the choice of hyaluronic acid should be based on personal needs and doctor's advice.
